Damian Hill
Chief executive officer, REST Industry Super
With over 20 years’ experience in life insurance and superannuation, Hill has been chief executive officer of REST since 2006, after joining the company in 1999 as administration manager.
Under his stewardship, REST has achieved solid growth to become Australia’s largest superannuation fund by membership. Under his watch the fund has seen the introduction of new insurance cover for REST members based on life stage.
Hill was a fervent campaigner for the removal of member-protection benefits and active in highlighting the need for Australians to have these options when the Cooper Review was in progress.
He has contributed to many industry and government working groups and consultation committees, with particular focus on legislative changes to superannuation and disclosure to superannuation members. Hill is an active member on a number of industry and government working parties and is convenor of the Industry Funds Forum, a director of the Fund Executives Association Limited and chair of SuperFriend, a mental health foundation established by industry funds. He is also a fellow of the Association of the Superannuation Funds of Australia and a certified investment management analyst.
