Peter Crewe

Chief executive officer, AIA Australia

Crewe joined the AIA Group in 1994 and was appointed chief executive on December 1, 2011. He began his career in the life insurance industry in 1988 at Crown Financial Management and Swiss Life (UK) in 1992, focusing primarily on pension, managed fund and employee benefit programs.
From 1994 to 2002 Crewe held various senior positions in the AIA Group, was then assigned to Brunei as the country manager before moving back to Hong Kong in late 2003 to take on an expanded regional role and responsibilities for annuities, pensions and mutual funds.
From 2004, he served as senior vice president and managing director of AIA Pension and Trustee Co. Crewe’s breadth of responsibility was subsequently expanded in 2008 to overseeing employee benefits and the distribution of the group’s individual life and savings products through brokers and independent financial advisers in the Asia Pacific region.
In early 2010 he was made president director in Indonesia, where he remained until his appointment in Australia.
