John Brogden

The Financial Services Council represents Australia's retail and wholesale funds management businesses, superannuation funds, life insurers, financial advisory networks, trustee companies and public trustees. From 2006 Brogden was CEO of health insurer, Manchester Unity, which merged with HCF in December 2008. He was also chairman of Abacus Australian Mutuals from 2006 to 2009. Brogden was the member for Pittwater in the New South Wales Parliament from 1996 to 2005 and in 2002 he was elected leader of the opposition.
Brogden is chairman of Landcom, a director of NIA, chairman of Furlough House Retirement Village and a member of the advisory boards of the Brain and Mind Research Institute and the AMA (NSW) Charitable Foundation. He is the patron of Lifeline Australia, Sailability Pittwater, Bilgola Surf Lifesaving Club and Avalon Beach Surf Lifesaving Club. He holds a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Sydney.
